Go West 2018 Overview

Last week we had the privilege of sponsoring the Go West Conference in Edmonton. The event was impeccably planned and filled up both days with trendy event ideas, educational speakers, cutting edge sponsored networking mini-events, and a hands-on showcase portion unlike any typical trade show.

Go West Conference Review

The 2-day event was a mix of networking events filled with music, stilt-walkers, high-end decor, and food & desserts that made every instagram follower experience major FOMO. The first day was full of speakers ranging in topics from wedding trends to corporate branding, and the second day followed suit with a morning of inspirational talks. After the ‘conference’ portion of the event was over, attendees were guided to lunch in the tradeshow area where there were booths, workshops, and seminars to keep everyone busy for the remainder of the evening.

Over the course of the 2 days we managed twitter and instagram for @gowestcan and monitored the #gowest2018 hashtag (which became Canada’s top 8 trending hashtag for the second day) due to our activity.

We posted 44 images on instagram over the 2 days, which included a custom features post for each of the conference speakers.

We posted and retweeted 218 text, image, and videos on Twitter over the 2 days, which included quoted and direct retweets.

We posted 69 instagram stories over the 2 days, which consisted of videos, boomerangs, and images – all with attendee tags and the event hashtag.

Elephant’s Remark Instagram Seminar

To wrap up the day, Elephant’s Remark filled in and lead a group discussion and seminar about the effectiveness of instagram at events, as well as some tips and tools to use to help event planners stay on top of everything (or hire us to help on the day of). It was a 30 minute speed session about effectively promoting your events using this amazing visual platform. During this time we did flatlay samples with our badges and talked about hashtags, filters, and context for them as sample posts.

At the end of the seminar we handed out this quick cheatsheet for instagram at events:

We had a blast and can’t wait to get involved again next year.
